Felix’s life’s work is dedicated to creating jazz music that speaks directly to the heart. His passion lies in blending the swinging, earthy elements of traditional American jazz with the serene, reflective qualities of Scandinavian jazz. 

Through his compositions, Felix aspires to forge a unique musical language that resonates deeply with listeners, evoking feelings of peace, joy, and nostalgia. 

His dream is to unite these distinct jazz traditions, crafting a sound that is both soulful and invigorating, offering an auditory experience that bridges cultures and emotions, and leaves a lasting impact on all who hear it.

  • Ode to an owl (2014) produced by Manfred Mann. The title track "Ode to an Owl" was actually written on Zanzibar during the Jahazi Festival, where we did a ceremony to release a captured owl.
  • Statement (2015) was recorded in Sweden with John Ellis and Joe Dyson while we were on tour there, at the great Gula Studion.
  • New York Rendez-vous (2016) Recorded in New York and features my old friend Björn Ingelstam and great New York players John Ellis, Myles Sloniker, and Joe Dyson. It includes new arrangements of classics like "Summertime" and "St. Louis Blues," and a ballad I wrote in New York inspired by its settings called "Broadway 152.”
  • ​Life in a fishbowl (2019) a trio record with Myles Sloniker and Pete Van Nostrand, containing a mix of standards and my own songs recorded in New York. 
  • ​Re:dark/light (2021) is the album I created during the COVID lockdown, incorporating electronics and exploring a cinematic style. This album was awarded the Thomas Lejon Grant, with the jury praising it for its beautiful melodies and atmospheres. They said, "Felix Tani, with the album 'Dark/Light,' creates beautiful melodies and sounds. Felix is a master at creating moods with wonderfully shifting tones and dynamics. Professional and meditative."
  • ​Askiem (2022) meditative and minimalistic piano music.
  • ​Solo (2023) is my take on the American Songbook with my own arrangements of classic tunes like "Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Autumn Leaves."
  • ​Camera Obscura (2024) Minimalistic piano music inspired by and written to a play with poems by Jesper Svenbro, a member of the Swedish Academy which appoints the Nobel Prize.
